PrintDNV qualification for Applus RTD Rotoscan system
The Norwegian qualification authority Det Norske Veritas ( DNV) has recently given written approval for the Applus RTD Rotoscan inspection system, to be used for the Automated Ultrasonic Inspection of the pipeline girth welds within the On- and Offshore industry, as being in compliance with standard DNV OS-F101 Appendix E:2007 edition.
The full scope of the qualification covers the commonly used J and V preparation weld bevel configurations within the new construction pipeline industry in wall thicknesses ranges between 6 and 30 mm.
The successful Applus RTD Rotoscan system qualification is based upon the performance of both Multi-probe and Phased Array technology.
Extensive documentation was provided within this qualification, to satisfy all of the DNV qualification requirements within the standard and was related to all operational and statistical performance aspects of each system technology.
This qualification results can be used as historical evidence for future pipeline projects, resulting in limiting or in some cases omitting the extent of pre-project validation activities.
